🔒 Fully internal cable routing

The Schmolke Roadbar Cockpit TLO replaces a conventional handlebar and stem with one exceptionally light carbon structure.

At just 222g in the 420 x 100mm configuration, it removes significant weight from the front of the bike while delivering the stiffness required for hard accelerations, climbing out of the saddle and precise cornering.

Lightweight without sacrificing control

Schmolke uses a carefully refined carbon layup with additional material placed through the heavily loaded centre section and less material in lower-stress areas. This allows the Roadbar Cockpit TLO to combine its remarkably low weight with the rigidity needed from an integrated road cockpit.

The result is a front end that feels immediate when you pull on the bars, without adding unnecessary weight to the bike.

Compact, comfortable road ergonomics

This is not simply a lightweight cockpit. Its shape is designed to provide comfortable and usable hand positions across long road rides.

  • 73 to 78mm reach keeps the controls within easy reach
  • 125 to 126mm drop creates an accessible position in the drops
  • 6° flare gives you more control without becoming a wide gravel shape
  • Flattened tops provide a comfortable position for climbing and steady riding
  • Near-horizontal transition to the brake hoods supports a natural wrist position

The compact geometry also makes the brake levers easier to reach for riders with smaller hands.

A properly clean front end

Full internal cable routing allows compatible brake hoses and shift cables to pass through the cockpit and stem area. It gives modern road bikes the uncluttered appearance their frames were designed around, without exposed routing across the front of the cockpit.

The integrated construction also removes the separate stem clamp from the centre of the handlebar, creating a smooth and purposeful finish.

Handmade TLO carbon construction

The Roadbar Cockpit TLO is hand-wound from high-quality carbon prepreg using Schmolke’s weight-specific TLO construction.

The centre section can contain up to 17 carbon layers in the areas carrying the greatest loads, while lower-stress sections use as few as five. Material is placed where it contributes to strength and stiffness, rather than applied uniformly across the cockpit.

The unpainted matt epoxy surface avoids the additional weight of paint and is more resistant to visible scratching. Its 1K carbon weave is available with either black or white Schmolke logos.

Frequently asked questions

How light is the Roadbar Cockpit TLO?

The 420mm-wide cockpit with a 100mm stem has a claimed weight of just 222g.

How does Schmolke measure the handlebar width?

Schmolke measures its road handlebars from outside to outside. Allow for this when comparing the listed width with a cockpit measured centre to centre.

Does it support fully internal cable routing?

Yes. The Roadbar Cockpit TLO is designed for fully internal routing through the handlebar and central stem area.

Is this the same as the Roadbar Cockpit Aero TLO?

No. This is Schmolke’s lighter, conventionally shaped Roadbar Cockpit TLO. The Aero version uses a broader aerodynamic upper section and is a separate cockpit.

Can clip-on aerobars be fitted?

No. Schmolke states that its Roadbar cockpit is not designed for triathlon or time-trial extensions.

What is the maximum permitted weight?

The maximum system weight is 110kg. System weight includes the rider, bicycle, equipment and luggage.
