At just 1,100g with Extralite HyperBoost3 hubs, the Schmolke TLO XC Race is an extraordinarily light 29-inch mountain bike wheelset.
This is not weight saving for the sake of a number. The ultra-light German-made rims reduce rotational weight, helping your bike accelerate faster, climb with less resistance and change direction more sharply through technical terrain.
What will you notice?
A quicker response when you put the power down, less effort through repeated accelerations and a lighter, more precise feel when picking lines at speed.
Front and rear-specific XC rims
Schmolke uses different internal widths for the front and rear wheels. The 30.5mm front rim provides broad tyre support for confident steering and front-wheel grip. The 28mm rear rim keeps weight exceptionally low where fast acceleration matters.
The front rim weighs approximately 259g, while the rear weighs just 281g. Both use a low 22mm profile to combine precise handling with a less punishing ride than excessively deep and rigid carbon MTB rims.
Race weight without a nervous ride
The TLO XC Race is built with Sapim CX-Ray 2.0 spokes and premium Boost hubs for the stiffness and accuracy required in XC, marathon and stage racing.
Australian Mountain Bike tested the wheelset through two endurance races and extensive trail riding. The reviewer praised its fast rolling speed, rapid acceleration, excellent handling and controlled ride quality, reporting that the wheels never skipped a beat.
