Schmolke TLO 55 Carbon

The Schmolke TLO Gravel PiRope is built for riders who want the lightest, most distinctive gravel wheelset in the range.

At just 1,170g, it pairs German-made TLO carbon rims with 2.2g PI ROPE textile spokes and ultra-light NONPLUS hubs. The result is rapid acceleration, exceptionally low rotating weight and extra damping across rough gravel.

1,170g. Textile spokes. NONPLUS hubs. Made in Germany.

A gravel wheelset that feels different

Gravel riding continually strips speed from the bike. Climbs, loose corners, rough surfaces and repeated changes of pace force you to rebuild momentum again and again.

At 1,170g, the TLO Gravel PiRope reduces the wheel weight you have to accelerate. It gives the bike a lighter, more immediate response without sacrificing the composed feel needed on broken ground.

  • Faster response when the pace changes
  • Less rotating weight on every climb
  • Textile-spoke damping across rough surfaces
  • Distinctive colour options without a weight penalty

Why PI ROPE textile spokes?

Each PI ROPE spoke weighs just 2.2g. The spokes use high-strength polyester spun from liquid crystal polymers, combining very low weight with stiffness and useful damping.

That damping matters on gravel. It helps soften high-frequency vibration and gives the wheelset a quieter, more settled character when the surface becomes rough.

Choose from 11 spoke colours to make the wheelset either understated or impossible to miss.

TLO carbon with ultra-light NONPLUS hubs

The 35mm-deep TLO rim uses a 25mm internal width suited to 40 to 45mm gravel tyres. Its hookless shape supports tubeless use and helps create a stable tyre profile at gravel pressures.

NONPLUS Center Lock hubs keep the complete wheelset down to 1,170g. The hub pair weighs approximately 221g and uses sealed 6803 RS bearings with Microspalt end caps to help protect against water, dirt and dust.

Built one wheelset at a time

Schmolke manufactures the carbon rims in Germany and hand-builds each PiRope wheelset in Konstanz. Every wheel is laced, centred, tensioned and pressed before leaving the workshop.

Frequently asked questions

How is the PiRope version different from the TLO Gravel?
The PiRope wheelset uses PI ROPE textile spokes and NONPLUS hubs to reach approximately 1,170g. It also uses the 35mm-deep, 25mm-internal TLO rim. The current standard TLO Gravel uses a different 27mm-deep, 29mm-internal rim with DT Swiss 180 hubs.
What do textile spokes change?
They reduce weight and add damping while retaining the stiffness required for wheel construction. On gravel, the damping helps calm high-frequency vibration from rough surfaces.
Is the rim hooked or hookless?
It is a hookless, tubeless-ready gravel rim. Use only compatible tubeless-ready tyres and observe the tyre manufacturer's pressure limits.
Is a Boost version available?
Schmolke currently specifies the PiRope Gravel wheelset for standard 12x100mm front and 12x142mm rear gravel spacing.
Which freehub options are available?
Schmolke currently lists Shimano Micro Spline 12 and SRAM XDR freehub options for this wheelset.

Built to transform the ride

The TLO Gravel PiRope combines a 1,170g total weight with the damping and visual impact of textile spokes. It is an unmistakable upgrade that makes a gravel bike feel lighter, calmer and quicker across changing terrain.
