Best Wheels for the Trek Domane SLR Gen 5
The right wheels can change more than the weight of your Trek Domane SLR Gen 5.
Schmolke offers three distinct performance upgrades: the agile SL 37, the exceptionally light TLO 37 and the aerodynamic TLO 50. Here is the best match for every current Domane SLR build.
Choose the performance you want

Climbing and acceleration
Schmolke TLO 37
Approximately 290g rims with high lateral stiffness and an agile character.
Aerodynamics and speed
Schmolke TLO 50
Aerodynamic from 30km/h, laterally stiff and exceptionally light.
TLO 37 rim
Approx. 290g
TLO 50 rim
Approx. 315g

Agility and value
Schmolke SL 37
1,190g
Approximately 400g lighter
Performance gain: a shallower, agile wheel with high lateral stiffness and the proven engagement and serviceability of DT Swiss 240 hubs.
The SL 37 gives the Domane a more climbing-focused character without entering TLO pricing. Schmolke designed it for mountains and undulating endurance terrain, where repeated changes of pace and direct power transfer matter.

Speed without the weight
Schmolke TLO 50
From 940g
Up to 650g lighter
Performance gain: a 50mm rim designed to provide an aerodynamic benefit from 30km/h, combined with high lateral stiffness and approximately 315g rims.
This is not simply a lighter replacement. The TLO 50 retains the deep-wheel speed of the Domane while reducing the mass concentrated at the rim. That combination targets sustained speed, acceleration and climbing rather than sacrificing one to improve another.

Best all-round upgrade
Schmolke TLO 50
From 940g
Up to 500g lighter
Performance gain: retain the 50mm aerodynamic category while gaining lighter rims, high lateral stiffness and a wider 32.5mm external profile.
The Aeolus RSL 51 is already a premium wheel. The reason to move to TLO 50 is that Schmolke combines deep-section aerodynamics with a wheelset weight normally associated with shallow climbing wheels.

Maximum agility
Schmolke TLO 37
From 895g
Up to 545g lighter
Performance gain: approximately 290g rims, 24-spoke construction and high lateral stiffness for responsive climbing and repeated accelerations.
The TLO 37 is for riders who want to turn the Domane SLR 9 into a lightweight climbing and endurance machine. Its strength is not simply the final bike weight—it is how little mass remains at the rim while stiffness is preserved.

TLO 37: sharper acceleration, climbing and an agile 37mm profile.
TLO 50: aerodynamic performance from attainable road speeds while remaining exceptionally light.

Schmolke TLO 37
From 895g
Up to 430g lighter
Performance gain: preserve the bike’s 37mm wheel profile while moving to approximately 290g rims and Schmolke’s high-lateral-stiffness construction.
Trek created the SLR 9 AXS 1x as its lightest Domane build. The TLO 37 strengthens that exact purpose, giving it a more responsive wheel without changing the depth or turning it into a different kind of bike.
